Attendance at JFFC’s annual Spring concerts is part of the package for camp attendees, with tickets available for purchase to the general public. The performers are the best of the best in today’s acoustic roots music scene, with concerts extremely popular and a history of selling out each year.
The concerts are held Friday and Saturday night, on-site at Julian Family Fiddle Camp.
For those wishing a special experience, we offer a limited number of VIP tickets that include a pre-concert dinner and premiere seating at the concert.
The Page Turners are Carolyn Kendrick (Fiddle, Vocals, Guitar) and Jake Howard (Mandolin, Vocals, Guitar). If American Roots Music is an ongoing story, The Page Turners are writing their own chapter. Touring the U.S. full-time and constantly taking in their surroundings of new acoustic music, The Page Turners are a fresh new duo; rethinking and redefining what it means to be a modern American stringband. Drawing from their love of bluegrass, old-time, country, swing, jazz, and fearless songwriting, The Page Turners write sharp and adept original music, while putting new twists on old favorites.
Since their genesis, The Page Turners have recorded their self-titled debut album and hit the pavement, soaking up the thriving musical landscape across the United States. They have performed in over 30 states and at renowned festivals such as Greyfox Bluegrass Festival, Joe Val Bluegrass Festival, Berkeley Bluegrass Festival at Freight & Salvage, The American Roots Program at Berklee Presents: A Tribute to Leadbelly (Berklee Performance Center), Freshgrass Music Festival, Savannah Music Festival: Musical Explorers, and others. Both Carolyn and Jake will be instructors at the 2019 Julian Family Fiddle Camp (JFFC), and are the headline performers for the opening show of JFFC’s annual Spring Concert Series.
We are a husband + wife creative team. We write all our music together in some way or another. It’s challenging and also amazingly rewarding. Rachael is a stunning vocalist with amazing lyrical ability (yes, she can make up a song during a performance that would seem like it took years to craft). Luke is multi-instrumentalist (2014 Grand National Fiddle Champion) who adds soul-filled guitar and raw harmonies. Together, though, we bring each other to the wholly new and unique musical level of DEAN! (along with a rotating cast of local and national touring bandmates).
We met at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, started dating, started DEAN!, made our first album (Want it Better), moved to Portland OR, and got married! Since then, we have continued to write and play together, as well as with a host of other great musicians/ projects.
